What is 50 Books in First Grade?

First grade is a crucial year for developing strong reading habits, and we're here to make it fun and rewarding! We've designed this program to motivate your child to read a total of 50 books during their first-grade journey.

Why join?

  • Foster a lifelong love of reading.
  • Boost vocabulary, comprehension, and reading fluency.
  • Encourage confidence and self-motivation.

How does it work?

  • Register your first grader online and print a reading log or pick one up at the library.
  • Read, Read, Read! Track their reading during the school year.
  • Reading and listening to books both count, re-reading books also counts.
  • Upon completing all 50 books, celebrate your child’s achievement, and visit the library to choose a free book!
This program runs from September 2 to April 1.
